Visual information is an integral part of teaching at RISD. Although a large percentage of classrooms are already well equipped with slide, DVD, and/or data projection, the Media Resource Center loans and delivers audiovisual equipment for academic and administrative use and provides many other services such as minor repairs and subcontracting for larger repairs.
The staff provides consultation and instruction for users and designs and runs lighting and sound for events in the RISD Auditorium, 20 Washington Place and Metcalf Auditoriums.
Hours of operation: Monday through Friday 8:30 AM to 8:00PM.
Equipment Check-in/Check-out Times: Monday through Friday: 8:30-7:00PM
For Non-RISD Events in the Auditorium: Please give 24-hour notice for specific AV needs after you have reserved the Auditorium with Reserve Classroom (Registrar’s Office), 401-454-6152.
Performances: Please give 7 days’ notice for any change in stage lighting.
Please note that audio systems/technicians may be subcontracted for concerts as well as specialized equipment such as projection screens, sets, etc.
Special events (colloquia, panel discussions, film festivals, etc.):
Please give 7 days’ notice of specific needs.
All non-RISD events Reservations and technical needs are coordinated through the RISD Special Events Office and Media Resources. A schedule of fees and rental requirements are available on request.
